This is definitely the largest project I’ve attempted to tackle at one time. I started off thinking I had a pretty good idea of what it would involve, but the more I worked with the material, the more I realized how much I wanted to add to make it feel like a cohesive whole.
While working on deliverables, I found it useful to actually map out entry points as well to connect things. I wanted each deliverable I designed to have a purpose. Part of handing off a system like this would be training people of all different experience levels (like student volunteers) in the purpose of and how to use each item, as well as how everything works as a whole. In the case of the app for example, they would need to know, how do students find the app? What are the entry points? The point of the marketing plan was to introduce students to available resources, so I used informational posters, email, and the landing page as entry points.
I really enjoyed the testing process! I’ve used testing several times throughout this process. The most fun was testing the social media posts. Since I’m older than my target demographic, I actually had to do quite a lot of research when it came to social media usage and current slang. Literally searching Reddit for memes and finding the last reference to one I had in mind being six years ago was both humbling and hilarious.
Over the summer, my big project is the app. I have pretty solid flows and architecture, but I need to complete the wireframes, run more tests, and apply the visual system. In addition, I’ll be tightening up the work on the deliverables I’ve already started, taking additional photos for the booklet and app.

For the next class, I’ll complete the app, environmental, and swag deliverables, and tie up any other loose ends with the marketing plan and event deliverables.
